APPT Returns to Seoul in 2012
December 11th 2011After a two-season hiatus, PokerStars has just announced that this coming March, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour will be making its way to South Korea for APPT Seoul.
It was three years ago that South Korea hosted an Asia Pacific Poker Tour event and it is with great pleasure that we can announce that PokerStars will once again be returning to Seoul during its fifth season.
Taking place from March 8 to March 11 in 2012, Season 5 APPT Seoul is set to descend upon the Paradise Walkerhill Casino in South Korea’s capital city. The event will be an exciting five day festival of poker which is sure to draw a big field of seasoned regulars, local stars and some of the best players that poker has to offer.
When the APPT made its way to Macau just a few weeks ago, no one realised how massive that event would be as we witnessed the biggest event in APPT history. After a two-season hiatus, APPT Seoul will be looking to continue that huge growth in the region to solidify the APPT’s development as one of the most important poker circuits in the world.
The last APPT Seoul event was held in 2008 and it was Yoshihiro Tasaka who bested a field of 166 players on a memorable final table to take down the US$128,199 first place prize. That was just the second season of the APPT and the numbers were down from the first event in where 186 players took to the felt and Ziv Bachar ended up winning that event for a US$139,000 score.
By all accounts, Season 5 APPT Seoul is set to be far bigger than those two initial events as the APPT continues to prosper and poker shows immense growth throughout Asia.
The Main Event features a KRW 3,000,000 buy-in which equates to roughly US$2,600 and there will be two KRW 420,000 Mega Satellites taking place on March 7 before the Main Event kicks into gear the following day.
The Main Event will be played over four days and will feature two day one flights, while the schedule is jam packed with several side events including a Teams event, a Pot Limit Omaha tournament and a KRW 6,000,000 buy-in High Roller event.
Keep an eye on PokerStars in the New Year for online satellites to the APPT Seoul Main Event.
