WSOP APAC Schedule Announced

January 16th 2013 By Heath "TassieDevil" Chick

The World Series of Poker Asia Pacific schedule for 2013 has been announced with five WSOP-APAC bracelets up for grabs during the series which runs from April 4th – 15th 2013 at Crown Melbourne.

The schedule will kick off with the unique AU$1,100 Accumulator event with three opening flights to give players the opportunity to play any or all of these flights to accumulate as many chips as possible to take into Day 2.

The second championship event will be the AU$1,650 Pot Limit Omaha which is also a three-day event that commences on Sunday April 7th.

Event #3 is a AU$2,200 Mixed Event, although it is unclear if this refers to a mixed game format such as 8-Game or a mixed holdem format.  We're guessing 8-Game.  This three-day event will start on Monday April 8th.

Following that we’ll see the popular AU$5,000 No Limit Holdem Six-Handed event which kicks off on Tuesday April 9th, while the final championship event is the AU$10,000 WSOP-APAC Main Event which will commence on Thursday April 11th at a 6pm start time and runs over four days.

To round out the schedule will be a AU$50,000 High Rollers event, which also offers rebuys, which is sure to keep the Macau high rollers happy, and the return of the Caesars Cup.  This popular televised event will see a preliminary heat of Asia-Pacific’s finest, led by 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, take on a team of European players.  The winner will then take on a team from the Americas for the Caesars Cup trophy.

“Ever since Australian Joe Hachem won the WSOP Main Event in 2005, we dreamed of the day we could hear Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi Oi, Oi on native soil,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We can’t wait for the first WSOP Asia-Pacific to begin, and we hope with a solidified schedule, players from around the globe will plan their trip to Melbourne in April as we make WSOP history awarding the first bracelets in the Southern Hemisphere.”

The first four bracelet events will be streamed live on the WSOP website, with television production planned for the Main Event, High Rollers and Caesar’s Cup.
